Alay Lakad 2009 is a show of force and unity among the different municipalities in Metro Vigan with the goal of achieving a Metro Vigan Development Authority (MVDA) for a better cooperation and sharing of resources among neighboring towns. The would be MVDA is composed of Vigan City, Bantay, San Vicente, Sta. Catalina, Sto. Domingo, Caoayan and Santa.

The Sta. Catalina group started their walk for unity at exactly 6:00 am infront of the Municipal Hall and reached Plaza Burgos, the meeting point of all municipalities, at around 7:00 am. A short program was held as the participants partake pandesal and cold milo drink.
